2008 Summit Walk
22nd November to 29th November 2008
The walk is a unique leadership opportunity open to past students who've been on a BOEC camp between 2002-07.
Applications close Friday 10 October 2008.
The Summit Walk is designed to provide past Bogong students with the opportunity to extend their personal outdoor skills and experience, and provide active leadership roles. It aims to allow students to develop team building skills, self-sufficiency and interdependence, and organisational skills. It aims to give students a challenging five-day bushwalking expedition in the rugged alpine environment and share this with other like minded young people from across the state.
The Summits Ski is a tremendous opportunity for students to discover winter environments through a 5 day Cross Country Skiing program. The program begins with a single day trip to the snow, where students learn and develop their skills. Following this day trip students will participate in the expedition component of the journey, which stretches for 3 days (2 nights) of ski touring and camping in the snow. Students will learn how to be self-sufficient in the snow by carrying all their own personal gear and food for the journey. Not only will skiing be involved but students will have the opportunity to learn and build snow shelters, like snow caves and igloos. What better way to learn about the winter environment then by skiing and living in it.
The Summits Slide is an amazing 5 day program intended to challenge students and extend their skiing skills whilst developing a greater appreciation for our incredible winter environment. The program culminates with 1 day of backcountry ski (off-piste) exploration. This is an fantastic opportunity for students to develop their personal skiing an winter survival skills whilst furthering their knowledge and admiration of winter in the Bogong High Plains.
